Building Trust and Credibility in Sales Conversations

Lesson #04 Notes

Sales is not about pushing a product—it’s about building trust. If a prospect doesn’t trust you, they won’t buy, no matter how great the course is. In this lesson, we’ll cover how to establish credibility, gain trust quickly, and make prospects feel confident in their decision to buy the Cabanga Digital Navigator Certification.

Why Trust Matters in Sales.

Think about it—people buy from businesses they trust. When a prospect hesitates, it’s usually because they’re asking themselves:
1. “Is this really worth my money?”
2.  “Will this course actually help me?”
3. “Is this person just trying to sell me something?”

Your job as an SDR is to remove their doubts by showing that this is a course that delivers real results.

How to Build Instant Trust in Sales Conversations.

Step 1: Speak with Confidence.
People trust those who sound like they know what they’re talking about. Even if you’re new to digital marketing, confidence makes all the difference. Instead of saying:

Customer: “Umm, I think this course can help with digital marketing.”
Your Response: “This course is designed to give you a step-by-step plan to grow your business and brand online. It’s practical, easy to follow, and proven to work.”

Step 2: Show Transparency.
People can tell when you’re being fake. Always be upfront:

“This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It’s a structured program that teaches digital marketing the right way. If you follow it, you’ll see real results.”

Honesty helps build credibility and makes prospects feel more comfortable.

Step 3: Use Third-Party Credibility.
If a prospect doesn’t trust you yet, they will trust other people’s experiences. This is where success stories and testimonials come in. You can say:

“I get why you might be unsure. But let me tell you about a business owner who took this course. She had no experience in digital marketing and was struggling to get customers. After completing the program, she learned how to use SEO and WhatsApp marketing, and now she’s consistently making online sales.”

Use stories to prove that this course delivers results.

Step 4: Be a Consultant, Not Just a Salesperson.
A good SDR doesn’t just sell—they help the prospect make the right decision. Instead of pushing them to buy, ask guiding questions:

  • “What are your biggest challenges in digital marketing?”

  • “Have you tried other courses before? What didn’t work?”

  • “What would success look like for you after learning digital marketing?”

This makes them feel heard and builds trust because you’re showing genuine interest in their success.

Step 5: Offer Risk Reversal.
If a prospect is still hesitant, remind them:  “Many students started where you are now—unsure if it would work. But after following the course, they saw real results. You don’t have to figure this out alone—this course gives you a clear roadmap.”

Sometimes, prospects just need reassurance that they are making the right decision.

Final Thoughts.

Building trust is about confidence, honesty, and proving that the course delivers results. The best SDRs are not just sellers—they’re advisors.

In Lesson #5, we’ll cover how to handle difficult prospects and turn rejections into opportunities.
